Pro-Installer Clearance Tips
Our air springs are built tough. But even the toughest rubber can’t win against a sharp frame edge or a hot exhaust pipe. Because every vintage chassis is unique, giving your bags “room to breathe” is a critical part of the install.
Three-Stage Clearance Check: You must verify clearance at three critical stages — Fully Compressed (Slammed), Normal Ride Height, and Fully Extended (Lifted). Don’t skip any stage.
The “Hand-Sweep” Test: Throughout the full suspension cycle — especially at full steering lock — maintain a visible safety gap around the entire bag. You should be able to freely sweep your hand around it at every stage of travel. If it contacts the frame or any sharp edge, that’s a problem.
Zero-Contact Policy: Any contact between the rubber and a metal surface — including hot exhaust pipes — will lead to premature failure. So if clearance is tight at any point in the suspension’s motion, additional trimming or adjustment is required before you finish the install.
