Front & Rear Axle-Isolated 4-Corner Air Suspension Setup

Engineered exclusively for EZ AIRRIDE Elite kits, this high-flow system splits air management into two dedicated dual-block manifolds: one managing your front axle and one managing your rear axle. Featuring laser-etched ports and a mirrored, symmetric logo layout, this dual-block configuration gives you precise 4-corner air suspension control.

BEFORE YOU INSTALL: Manifold Orientation & Port Feeds

  • Left vs. Right Mirror Layout: Mount the manifold blocks symmetrically on either side of your air tank. When properly positioned in your trunk, the male Molex harness plugs face outward toward the rear quarter panels (Left block = Driver Side; Right block = Passenger Side).

  • Manifold Setup: Standing behind the vehicle and facing the tank in your trunk, the Driver-Side (Left) Manifold controls your front bags, and the Passenger-Side (Right) Manifold controls your rear bags.

  • Bottom High-Flow Feeds: All ports are laser-etched for quick identification. The large 3/8″ bottom ports are your primary high-volume feeds feeding straight down toward the trunk floor to power your air bags.

3-STEP EZ INSTALLATION GUIDE

Step 1: Trunk Mock-Up & Bench Assembly

  • Mock-Up First: Position your air tank in the trunk and mark your permanent mounting points before installing the manifolds.

  • Build on the Workbench: Mount the manifolds to the tank first, and then the air fittings to the manifolds on your workbench outside the vehicle. Working outside the car saves your back and keeps you from awkwardly bending over wrenching inside your trunk.

  • The First Thread Rule: Apply thread sealant carefully. Never put sealant on the first two threads. This rule prevents sheared sealant or debris from traveling into the internal seals, which will cause them to malfunction over time.

  • Tightening Fittings: Firmly thread fittings in hand-tight first, then use a wrench to turn them an additional 180° to 360° (a half to one full turn) to seat the taper smoothly without over-torquing.

Step 2: Harness Wiring & Power Options

  • Seat the Molex Plugs: Apply a light dab of dielectric grease (or clean soapy water) around the rectangular rubber O-ring gasket. This lubricates the rubber seal so the harness slides smoothly into place until fully engaged.

  • Bare-Metal Chassis Ground: Scrape all trunk paint, rust, and undercoating off your ground point. Secure the main black ground wire directly to raw, shiny metal to ensure your 12V solenoids snap open with full electrical velocity.

  • Red Power Wire Options:

    • Option A (Show Car / Trunk Shortcut): Builders who love showing off their rides and playing with switches at car shows often connect the red power wire directly to Terminal 30 on the compressor relays right there in the trunk. This allows you to operate the suspension with the key turned off, but keep in mind the manifolds stay live 24/7. If you choose this setup, use the integrated key-lockout switch on your EZ AIRRIDE switch box to prevent any accidental activation or unwanted use.

    • Option B (Dashboard Keyed Ignition – Recommended): Route the red power wires forward to a keyed ignition source at your dashboard fuse panel. This kills manifold power completely when the ignition key is off and out of the car.

Step 3: Air Line Plumbing & Fitting Care

  • Square Hose Cuts: Route 3/8″ air lines from the large bottom ports to your air bags. Always use a dedicated razor tubing cutter to guarantee 100% square cuts.

  • Push-To-Connect (PTC) Rule: Measure twice, cut once. Push-to-connect fittings use razor-sharp stainless steel teeth and an internal rubber O-ring. Repeatedly pulling lines in and out scores the outer nylon tubing wall and bends the steel teeth, destroying the high-pressure pneumatic seal.

  • Line Clearance: Secure air lines away from sharp sheet metal edges, exhaust heat, and moving suspension arms.

PROTECTING YOUR MANIFOLD SOLENOIDS & MOISTURE CONTROL

Your manifolds are the nerve center of your air ride build. Debris, excess thread tape, or dirt entering the ports could stick the internal seals open, causing the manifolds to malfunction over time.

Keeping your air system clean and dry is the single most important rule with any air suspension setup.

ELITE 3/8″ MANIFOLD DIAGNOSTICS & TROUBLESHOOTING

  • Symptom 1: Solenoids click, but the car doesn’t lift at all.

    • Cause & Fix: Your system is not fully pressurized yet. High-volume manifolds require full head pressure to lift heavy classic cars. Allow your compressors to run until the pressure switch automatically shuts them off at full 200 PSI, then hit your switches again.

  • Symptom 2: The compressor is running, the rear of the car lifts fine, but the front won’t budge.

    • Cause & Fix: There is no engine weight in the back of the car, so the rear airbags require significantly less air pressure to lift the back of the vehicle. The heavy iron V8 up front requires much higher pressure. Let your compressors finish filling the tank completely until they shut off at 200 PSI, then command the front manifolds.

  • Symptom 3: Solenoids are silent and won’t click when hitting switches.

    • Fix A (Plug Seating): Inspect the Molex harness plug. Ensure the rectangular rubber O-ring is fully compressed and clicked in place.

    • Fix B (Ground Check): Trace the black ground wire to the chassis. Scrape away all trunk paint, rust, and sound deadener down to raw, shiny steel to complete the 12V circuit.
